Grains & Seeds Literature

The QTA System has a patented design specifically developed for grains and seeds. Using Near Infrared technology, and our sampling device, QTA overcomes the challenges associated with analyzing inhomogeneous grains and seeds.
Seed Composition
QTA® can measure a wide variety of grains, seeds, oils, meals, flour and downstream products. We maintain a library of a wide variety of current capabilities; and will develop new applications specifically for you. Currently, we measure the following:
- Protein, oil, moisture on most grains and seeds
- Various starches and sugars, fatty acid profiles and amino acid profiles, including low linolenic soybeans
- Soy fiber, NSI, sugar, isoflavones
- Wheat hardness, falling number, gluten index, wet gluten
Seed Properties
Because QTA® is a secondary method, QTA® is also capable of correlating seed and grain physical or performance properties, thus providing a quick and easy way to predict properties such as wheat falling number, hardness, and even vigor. The prediction of vigor is nondestructive and is accomplished in two minutes.
Seed Treatment Loading Rates
The QTA® team is also working with several seed treatment manufacturers and has developed the capability to analyze for the loading rate for a variety of seed treatments on a variety of seed types. Again, these methods are non-destructive and provide the loading rate result in two minutes.
Capabilities
The QTA System offers a variety of analyses specifically for grains and seeds:
- Seed Composition
- Seed Properties
- Seed Treatment loading rates
