The QTA Business was formed in 2001 as business unit within Cognis Corporation. Cognis has over 150 years of experience in producing and analyzing fats, oils, and a variety of chemicals produced from these natural raw materials. One of Cognis’ customers, Dow AgroSciences requested Cognis’ assistance in analyzing the fatty acid profile of their new product, Nexera® canola at grain elevators and processing facilities. The QTA Business was launched, initially providing this analysis service for Nexera to Dow AgroSciences and its customers. Nexera is visually indistinguishable from conventional canola, and yet packs a powerful punch with its low trans fat profile. For Dow and its customers, the QTA System was vital to preserving the value of the Nexera in the supply chain.
